Their automation is not distinguishing between a Verizon SIM in a new Verizon phone and a TING SIM in an old Verizon phone. This appears to be based on Verizon's policy of locking recently purchased Verizon phones for 60 days after activation. This means I can now ONLY use my Galaxy S7 with either Verizon or TING! Though I've used the same phone with T-Mobile for two years, it is now locked to Verizon. The official Verizon network detected the Verizon-based TING SIM being used in the Galaxy S7 as a Verizon SIM and locked the phone to Verizon. It worked fine, but upon placing the T-Mobile SIM card back in the Galaxy S7 phone, I made a nasty discovery. Recently, I took the SIM card out of the J1 and put it in the Galaxy S7 due to battery problems with the J1. (2) I have use TING (Verizon network) with an old Samsung J1 (1) I have used an unlocked Verizon Galaxy S7 with T-Mobile for about two years. Ting (through the Verizon towers) and T-Mobile. ![]() So, if you have an unlocked Verizon phone that you are using with T-Mobile, do not under any circumstances use a Verizon-based TING SIM card in it. Long story short: Under some conditions if you use a Ting SIM card in an unlocked Verizon phone, it may become locked exclusively to Verizon's network. ![]()
